All SCI Patients Going in for Annuals Please Read This Memo From Dr. Pacheco

YOUR UPCOMING SPINAL CORD INJURY ANNUAL EVALUATION APPOINTMENT. PLEASE BE AT THE SCI CLINIC AT 8 AM FOR LAB COLLECTION

As you know, the Dallas VA Medical Center Spinal Cord Injury Service is conducting yearly comprehensive evaluations of our patients. Our goal is to improve your general health and well-being, quality of life, activities of daily living and functional independence.

PLEASE BE AT THE SPINAL CORD INJURY CLINIC AT 8AM FOR LAB COLLECTION. For your convenience, we will draw your blood work in the SCI Clinic. You do not have to go to the main hospital laboratory.

YOU CAN TAKE YOUR MORNING MEDICATIONS WITH SIPS OF WATER, BUT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EAT BEFORE YOUR LAB COLLECTION. Allow for travel time and traffic when planning your trip to our clinic. Feel free to bring personal items that will help ease any wait periods between appointments. In addition, please bring any medical equipment that may require evaluation (i.e. wheelchair, splints, walkers, etc). The SCI Outpatient Clinic Nurse will be the coordinator of your care for the day. The nurse will provide you with your schedule upon arrival to the SCI Clinic.

Typically, the day will last from 8am to 3pm to complete all evaluations. You will have thirty minutes to one hour long for appointments with the the following services: 

1) SCI Physician
2) SCI Physical and Occupational Therapists
3) SCI Social Worker 
4) SCI Psychologist
5) Renal Ultrasound
